The Mayo Clinic Pre-Bariatric Surgery App is designed by the bariatric surgery team at Mayo Clinic to help you get ready for bariatric surgery. This App has a number of exciting features that are designed to guide you along the path to a healthier lifestyle. These changes are essential to getting the most benefit from your surgery.
- Real-Time Alerts: Alerts are real-time messages sent to you throughout your day, asking you about your eating and activity choices. Based on your individual responses, you will receive tailored feedback, encouraging you to make healthier choices. In order for these Alerts to work, you will have to turn them on in your Notification Center.
- Learning Modules – There are short nutrition, physical activity, and wellness videos, which review key aspects of general health as well as specific things to consider when pursuing bariatric surgery. You can earn Award points simply by watching the videos and earn extra points by taking a short quiz after the videos.
- FAQs – You may have a lot of questions before surgery. Use the FAQs section to get answers to many of the common concerns before surgery.
- My Report – With the My Report feature, you’ll get a summary of everything you’re tracking through the App. This report can be printed or e-mailed right from the App, for you or your healthcare team to review.
- Goal Center – Because setting goals can be a powerful lifestyle tool, the App includes a Goal Center. You’ll be able to create personalized nutrition and physical activity goals. Once you create your goals, you can sync them to your iPhone calendar with the click of a button.
- Award Center – Earn points throughout the App on your journey to a healthier you. Compete with your friends along the way.
- Track It! – Recording weight, activity, and meals can be very helpful in achieving a variety of lifestyle goals. Mayo Clinic’s Pre-Bariatric Surgery App makes this simple with its Track It! section. With just a few clicks, you can log your weight, the type and length of your physical activity, and what you’re eating and drinking. The nutrition section of the tracker actually lets you add photos to your food diary, so it’s both a text and a photo food journal.
- Meal Timer – It’s important to eat slowly after bariatric surgery. To help you practice eating more slowly, the App includes a Meal Timer. It will store your most recent meal timings, so you can track your progress over time.
- Fluid Tracker – Drinking enough fluids after bariatric surgery can be challenging. That’s why the App includes a Fluid Tracker which records your fluid intake throughout the day.
- Care Team – The Pre-Bariatric Surgery App also helps you stay in touch with your healthcare team. With the click of a button you can call or e-mail any member of your care team.
- Connect – Staying connected with great resources is essential in supporting a healthy lifestyle. We’ve included links to bariatric surgery support groups and other Mayo Clinic resources, helping you connect with reliable information, care providers, and others on a similar journey.
